Today is National Spread the Word to End the Word Day!! 3.07.12
The image to the left was from last night. The image to the right: the current amount of pledges up to date! Between last night and tonight, 13,320 people pledged! :)
Now onto the images above. I went to urbandictionary.com; these 'definitions' they have, make me sick. And the thesaurus terms make me even more sick!
Do you know what the true definition is?
to make slow; delay the development or progress of (anaction, process, etc.); hinder or impede.
You see that: right of the bat it says 'to make slow.' No one chose to make Natalie slow, she was born that way. She was born uniquely, just like any other person!
You see this little girl:
Why would you ever call Kayla 'retarded'??!! I can tell you for sure, she's far from 'retarded'. Kayla can write her name, she loves unconditionally, she has an amazing amount of self esteem, and best of all she's unique.
Take a look at baby Natalie!! She just learned how to crawl, well more like an army crawl. It may have taken her longer than typical peers but she got there right?! YES!
You see these three people, they all have something in common: you're wrong but right if you guessed they have Down syndrome. Yes they do, but each of these three wonderful people had an impact in my life.
Kyle was my inspiration to go to University of Delaware and take up becoming a Special Education teacher aka one of the greatest decision's I've ever made! Natalie, was my inspiration to find beauty in every day! Kayla was my inspiration to advocate, start this blog, and spread the word about Down syndrome!
These three people play a huge role in my life! I'm grateful for each and every single person!
I posted tons of status' today on Facebook asking people to sign the pledge! And people did, a special thanks to the following!
If you just glanced at the pictures and didn't bother reading here's my summary!
